already?

cliché I know, but time flies. Hard to believe she's going to be a year old soon.
I've had so much fun with her, she is such a good sport with Grandma and her camera. This is from a shoot I did with her for her one-year-old photos. Look at those sweet little toes. And  yes, I bought that darling pink dress. You know with three boys I never bought pink.
I am blessed.

Solomon Poindexter

He used to be cool, then the lady at the dog groomers cut off all his personality. Now he looks like a nerd so I figured a tie was suiting. He didn't luuuuuuve the glasses but he dealt. Wish you me and the bud-man were coaxing him back to manhood together. Do dogs always act a bit weird when they first get a hair cut? Maybe I'm just embarrassed for him. Clearly I have a thing or two to learn about unconditional love.

Matt made an outtake appearance, just for you. xox michel

Winter Travels

I finally stepped away from my work table and got out of the basement this weekend. My travels took me through the nearby countryside. As much as I dislike winter there is, of course, beauty to be found. Or so I remind myself.

I think once summer is here, this little outbuilding will be well hidden from the road. What a beauty, tin roof, peeling weathered white paint, yummy textures. A great little place for a photo shoot, don't you think? I would have loved to have gotten closer, but there was the fence, and the  No Trespassing sign. And out in the country I'm always afraid that once I step away from my truck, a big country dog will appear out of no where. So to be on the safe side, I shot this one from inside the safety warmth of the cab of my truck.
And I wondered to myself, if you were there would you have talked me into slipping through the opening in the fence to get closer? And then running like the wind, trying not to get tangled in the briars and the fence, shrieking with laughter all the way to the truck when we heard the dog barking . . .

chocolate covered balls

Happy Birthday lil' Sis

I so wish I could be there for your birthday. I'd bring dozens of cake balls and a bottle or two of wine.
I can't think of anyone I'd rather share a dozen cake balls and a bottle of wine with. {I know, I know, bad grammar, eh.}
Just so you know, I will sip my wine and slowly enjoy the chocolate covered treats all the while thinking of you on your special day, looking forward to the day when we can cheers each other in person.
And that surprise package I have for you? Just as soon as I can find it, it's in the mail.

Enjoy your day sweets, I hope it's full of love and laughter.
I'll be thinking of you.

may the 4th or 10th be with you

I missed your day, by a hair. I meant to post this on the 4th but I suck sometimes. I was on the boat, in America, and saw this flapping in the wind and thought of you immediately.

I like you my crazy American sister. happy hair shy of the 4th, my lady - I hope it was filled with wine in a plastic cup and many fireworks.

your turf

If it wasn't enough that I was on your soil, I was drinking your wine too - heck had my check-in bag not exceeded weight by 8 lbs on the way back I'd still be drinking the illegal bottles I tried to smuggle back right now. I couldn't help but think of you a lot on my trip to San Francisco but not more than this day. Wine tour through Napa Valley and Sonoma... pretty sure we'd be in there like dirty shirt.

I was so close I could taste it. Next time I'm on your soil I better be sitting next to you by the fire.
